"Cupcakes in Pink"

During my WONDERFUL stamp time the other night, I was able to get TWO, count 'em TWO, cards done.

I just LOVE the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set - especially the tower of cupcakes stamp. And you've probably guessed that my favorite color is pink...

And so I present to you... "Cupcakes in Pink"!

I layered the cupcakes on top of the original stamped image twice. The icing is glittered and I used Crystal Effects to dot the cherries so they shined (a little difficult to see in the pictures).

I was able to make a large scallop square using my scalloped edge punch. You can find a great tutorial on how to do this here.

You can find the Ebay listing for this card (which includes more pictures, including the detailed inside) here.

"I {Heart} You"

What's more unbelievable?

The fact that I'm posting...

OR

The fact that I stamped for myself last night?

That's right. I sat down at my stamp table, pulled out some crafty items and just stamped. It was wonderful. I've missed it so much that I've forgotten how much I love it.

I was supposed to have my Hostess Club over last night for their January meeting. But with the FRIGHTFUL weather, it had to be cancelled. I'll see you girls next week!

In the new Stampin' Up! Catalog, the designers used 3 colors together that I never would have used myself: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla.

Now, I LOVE Baja Breeze, but Riding Hood Red has to be one of my least favorite colors... until now!

I was pleasantly surprised at the clean, modern look this color combo created. So, I decided to use it myself in this Valentine's Day card...

Double-Heart-Close-Up

I was really pleased at how it turned out. In fact, I decided to try my luck at auctioning it on Ebay. You can view the listing, which includes more pictures here.

For this card, I heat embossed all the images for a glossy shine. Since Stampin' Up! doesn't offer embossing powder or Craft pads in the In Colors (Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze included), I used some slick thinking.

For the double hearts, I just stamped in Versamark on Riding Hood Red card stock and embossed with clear EP.

For the "i <3 u", I followed these steps:

1. Mask heart on stamp with Post-It note and ink stamp in Baja Breeze.

2. Remove mask from stamp (leaving heart un-inked).

3. Stamp onto Very Vanilla card stock.

4. Clean stamp and mask "i" and "u" with Post-It note.

5. Ink stamp with Riding Hood Red.

6. Remove masks (leaving "i" and "u" un-inked)

7. Using Stamp-a-ma-jig (see video tutorial for using this product here), stamp red heart in between blue "i" and "u".

8. Clean stamp.

9. Re-ink stamp in Versamark.

10. Using Stamp-a-ma-jig again, stamp "i <3 u" in Versamark on top of blue and red "i <3 u".

11. Emboss in Clear EP.

Perhaps this technique warrants a video tutorial... I'll see what I can do about that.

Stars and Swirls

My Hostess for last weekend's workshop requested all holiday cards. I wanted to create projects that were simple, but interesting. Here is one of the cards we made:

I already had the tree stamped in Bravo Burgundy for the Stampers to punch out the circles. Just a few stamps and pop-dots and POOF! A great, simple card!

Here's a close-up of the dimension on the tree:
